The Catlins

Travel around the Southern East coast of Southland through the Catlins.  Its spectacular scenery of hidden lakes, rugged coastlines, and stunning waterfalls.  Kids love climbing the rocks on the beach at Curio Bay, or walk to see the well known McLean Falls or Cathedral Caves, and to the magnificent lighthouse at Nugget Point.  More information  is available at The Catlins website.

Visit the forest and bird web site for information on what’s happening in Southland to protect our environment.

A popular activity is the Bluff lookout on the summit of Bluff Hill.  Its a great view of the Southland plains and mountains.  There are also a number of walks in Bluff including the Greenpoint walkway past the ship graveyard, or around Stirling point, the site of our international signpost.  And dont forget the bluff Oyster and Seafood Festival held in Bluff each year.  More information is available at the Bluff website.
