Events in Invercargill

The Catlins

Travel around the Southern East coast of Southland through the Catlins. Its spectacular scenery of hidden lakes, rugged coastlines, and stunning waterfalls. Kids love climbing the rocks on the beach at Curio Bay, or walk to see the well known McLean Falls or Cathedral Caves, and to the magnificent lighthouse at Nugget Point.  More information  is available at The Catlins website.

Invercargill Activities

Invercargill Water Tower

The Water Tower is just over the road from the Tower Lodge Motel and is open to visit every Sunday where you can climb to the top of the tower, which measures 90ft (27.43m) above ground level.  The foundation stones were laid in 1888, and you can even view the original records of water supplied to houses.

Southland Walks

Bluff

A popular activity is the Bluff lookout on the summit of Bluff Hill.  Its a great view of the Southland plains and mountains. There are also a number of walks in Bluff including the Greenpoint walkway past the ship graveyard, or around Stirling point, the site of our international signpost. And dont forget the bluff Oyster and Seafood Festival held in Bluff each year. More information is available at the Bluff website.

Stewart Island

Visit Stewart Island while in Southland. There are Stewart Island flights leaving from Invercargill airport or you can catch the ferry from Bluff.  Let us know your plans and we can book your travel.
